Disney Springs in Orlando is a food lovers paradise. On my ever-growing “must-try” Disney restaurant list, MANY are in Disney Springs. The day before the Walt Disney World Marathon I decided to try one that I had heard great things about, The Boathouse! The Boathouse is one of the OG Disney Springs Restaurants and is constantly rated as one of the top spots at the Springs. Here is my honest dining review of The Boathouse in Disney Springs!

I made reservations a few months in advance for our one o’clock lunch, advanced dining reservations are highly recommended!

Atmosphere

The atmosphere within the restaurant is classy boat chic. Though don’t worry about rolling in wearing your t-shirt and flip-flops, you are in Florida after all. One of the features is classic Americana boats that have been turned into tables. It’s slightly kitschy without feeling cheesy. There are normal seats in a more standard dining area, like where we sat. There is also seating outside and an outdoor bar with classic boats on display near the dock.

Eats!

The menu is large and mainly focused on seafood and American-style food. It ranges from raw oysters to burgers and steaks.

They start the meal off with a bread basket, which was warm and fresh. Since I was there to eat a larger carbohydrate focused meal before my Marathon, I ordered a sandwich. My dining companion ordered fish tacos and a Stone Crab claw.

I ordered the “Yacht Club” club and substituted the fries for a baked sweet potato. Let me tell ya, this sandwich was AMAZING. I’ve never had such a perfect club sandwich! The dressing they used, plus the crispy bacon and generous amounts of turkey and veggies all came together is sweet sweet harmony. This is a LEGIT club sandwich you guys, I am not overselling it. It’s huge, so you can even take some home or share it!

The baked sweet potato on the side was perfectly slow-cooked so the inside tasted like candy. The cinnamon butter situation that came with it was decadent! I could have eaten that potato with the butter as a dessert and been happy. Tasty stuff! My meal was a serious home run! It was perfect for my pre-race carbo-load!

The Grilled Fresh Fish Tacos were also great. The fish was indeed fresh, the sauces added a nice and interesting flavor to the mix while the pickled onion was a tangy delight. It was plenty of food without being too much, a very satisfying lunch.

The crab claw was a delicious treat. We both LOVE crab, so the chance to try this Stone Crab claw was great! It tasted fresh and the meat in the claw was very substantial. It wasn’t something we necessarily needed considering the portion size of the rest of the meal, but it certainly was yummy!

Service

Our server was attentive and never made us feel rushed. I asked for A LOT of water (you gotta hydrate pre-race people!). He was happy to refill my water and give me an extra cup so I could drink a Nuun tab. He didn’t even act like it was strange that I was creating my electrolyte concoction at the table, big thumbs up! Also, he picked up on the fact I was running the marathon and automatically added the discount for race participants to our bill. Our server was on it and we definitely noticed the excellent service.

The Venezia and Amphicar Tours

Another interesting thing about The Boathouse is that they offer boat tours! One of their most popular tours is the Amphicar Tour. The original “amphicar” was created in the 1960s and was a “state of the art” car that could also operate in water. At The Boathouse you can take a 20-minute ride in one of these hybrid vehicles for $125.00 per car. The cars seat 3-4 people and they accept walk-ups. If you are a car nut this might just be a fun new experience to try!

The Venezia is an Italian water taxi. You can take a 3-hour tour for $500.00, with an option to dine at the Boathouse when it is docked there (price doesn’t include food or drink).

Overall, The Boathouse is a unique dining experience with food that holds up to the hype. They have food that is sure to please even the pickiest of eaters and the decor will delight any boat enthusiast. Make sure to add it to your Disney dining must-try list! =)

  1. We ate there the last time we were down in FL and we absolutely loved it. My boys loved seeing the Amphicar! It was such a great excellent atmosphere

  2. Going to Disney has been in my bucket list since I was little. I live in Europe so it’s too far away (and too expensive) so I didn’t have a chance to visit it but hopefully one day I’ll be able to go.
That place looks so cute, and the food looks incredible 😍 Great post!
