Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando has no shortage of activities. From the obvious park-hopping, resort time, and world-class shopping at Disney Springs, you can find something that everyone in your family will enjoy! Even as a Disney World veteran you can still find some unique things to do around the resort that might surprise you. Here is a list of 12 unique experiences you can have at Walt Disney World Resort!

Most of these experiences fill up fast, so you are going to want to book early. Go online or call Disney to check if you need reservations!

1. Get a Haircut

On Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom, there is an old school barbershop! Harmony Barber will give anyone a haircut, for a very reasonable price. The cutest thing you can do there is to get the “Baby’s First Haircut” package. It costs a tiny bit more than the standard cut, but you get a special surprise to commemorate the event. Adorable!

2. Go Scuba Diving

If you are SCUBA-certified and want to dive at Disney, you can! In EPCOT you can participate in DiveQuest which is a three-hour (additional cost) experience in Future World. There are even giant windows that make it possible for family and friends to view your dive!

3. Have a Traditional Afternoon Tea

This is on my shortlist of must-do experiences at Disney World! At the Grand Floridian Resort, you can enjoy an elegant traditional tea at the Garden View Tea Room. Along with tea, you can indulge in scones, sandwiches, and pastries. There is even a Mrs. Potts tea for the kiddos. If you would prefer tea inside one of the parks, the Rose and Crown Pub has a tea experience, located within Epcot.

4. Experience Virtual Reality

If you have ever wanted to walk into a scene from your favorite movie, now you can! In Disney Springs you can participate in The VOID experience. The VOID is a completely immersive 3D virtual reality simulation that puts YOU into the middle of the action! Right now they have Star Wars and Ralph Breaks VR adventures. I cannot wait to see what other worlds they incorporate into this experience! The VOID has several locations around the USA. So, if you can’t make it to Disney, see if there is one near you!

5. Interactive Scavenger Hunts

A unique thing to do in the parks is to participate in the interactive scavenger hunts! These are free activities that anyone attending the parks can do. The most popular ones are Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, and Pirate’s Adventure both within the Magic Kingdom, and Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure (Update: This recently changed to DuckTales World Showcase Adventure!) located in Epcot. Each scavenger hunt has its own unique prizes which can make for some fun and free souvenirs! Look into doing one (or all) of these if you have a little extra time or need some entertainment for a little one (especially in EPCOT!). To sign up there are designated booths within the parks and cast members to help you. Just look on the Disney World website to find out more.

6. In-Room Celebration

A fun and unique way to create some extra magic on your trip is to purchase an in-room celebration! Disney World Floral creates special packages that they can deliver to your resort room to surprise a loved one with flowers, toys, food, you name it! Prices vary depending on what you want in the package, but this would certainly make a huge impression on an already magical vacation!

7. Resort Fun Runs

You may already know that there are runDisney weekends that you can sign up for and run through various areas of the resort. (Check out why runDisney is to blame for my own racing addiction!) What you might not know is that there are several resorts that host frequent (some weekly) “fun runs”. The runs are typically around $15.00, and the distances vary but are all around 1.5-2 miles. The most popular run is the Beignet Dash at Port Orleans French Quarter (probably because of the tasty beignet finisher treat!). If you want to get a few miles in and a feeling of accomplishment, these runs are for you!

8. Play Miniature Golf

If you want to expereince some serisouly magical mini-golf, Disney’s got you! They have two Miniature Golf courses on property, Disney’s Fantasia Gardens, and Disney’s Winter Summerland. The two courses are completely themed in a way that only Disney can do, full of fun interactive touches. The price to golf is very reasonable and would be perfect for a laid-back non-park day!

9. Go Fishing

If you or someone in your family LOVES to fish, Disney has you covered! There are plenty of opportunities around the resort to fish. (Note that all fishing at the resort is catch and release.) You can choose from a bass fishing excursion lead by a guide or dockside fishing. The excursions are all throughout the lakes on Disney property, and dockside fishing is available at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort- Riverside.

10. Campfire Sing-A-Long with Chip and Dale

Most of the Walt Disney World Resorts offer evening campfires and/or movies under the stars. The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort offers a truly unique Disney experience by including Chip and Dale and a cowboy Sing-A-Long! Check it out for some great character interactions and a wonderful way to spend an evening with your family.

11. Explore Tri-Circle-D Ranch

Walt Disney World has its own ranch where they keep those hardworking Main Street horses! At the ranch they offer pony rides, horseback riding, wagon rides, and horse-drawn carriage rides. Any horse enthusiast must add this unique experience to their Disney bucket list!

12. Practice Archery

Have you ever wanted to learn how to shoot a bow, or wanted to channel your inner Robin Hood? You can at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort! In the campsite area of the resort, you can participate in a 75-minute archery experience. I LOVE archery, so this is on my bucket list!
