Buying a treadmill has been on my radar since early last summer. That priority moved up quickly when I became pregnant! Running while pregnant turned out to be a wee bit more difficult than I had imagined (read all about my first, second, and third trimesters!). So, we pulled the trigger on buying one towards the end of my second trimester. I find the cushioning of the treadmill easier on me, and once the baby is here I plan on sneaking quick runs in during naps. After MUCH research on the best mid-range treadmills, I decided on the NordicTrack Commercial 1750. It is one of the best-selling treadmills on the market, and it has many upgraded features for a reasonable price tag. It also came with a one-year membership to the iFit online training program. NordicTrack Delivery

The pandemic has lengthened delivery times for most personal workout equipment. Fortunately, our treadmill took only three weeks to be delivered. We were notified when we ordered of the delayed shipping times and were notified when the unit was expected to be delivered. They called us to confirm the date and time of delivery so we could be there when the delivery was made.

When the day came a HUGE box was delivered to our doorstep. Luckily, we were able to greet the guys with the treadmill on the caddy and have them drop it off inside our front door. I was nervous that they wouldn’t leave it inside our house, so I was relieved that they did! My husband said the guys who dropped it off were great and it was an overall good experience.

Assembly of the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 Treadmill

This is where the fun begins! Currently, during COVID times, NordicTrack is not offering a professional assembly service. Therefore we (ok, my husband mostly) got the chance to do it ourselves! Honestly, it could have been a lot worse. They have in-depth instructions available, plus there is a handy YouTube video put out by NordicTrack on how to assemble your treadmill. We used both and found the combo of written and visual instructions to be very helpful.

It took about 4 hours to assemble (with breaks). We had a few issues with parts not clipping in perfectly, but in the end, everything seemed to come together. That’s the benefit of having a professional put it together, you know every part is perfectly aligned. I haven’t had any issues while using the treadmill, and you do calibrate it once it’s done, so I believe we are all good. I would say paying for professional assembly is how I would do it in the future, though my husband claims that it wasn’t that bad and he didn’t mind putting it together. So, it just depends on what you want once they offer the service again.

Functionality

Before you can use the treadmill for the first time you have to calibrate the machine and test the belt tightness. This didn’t take long, though we did end up tightening the belts a bit a few days after putting the treadmill together. We noticed some slipping when we used the negative grades (downhill), and tightening the belt helped immensely. Other than that, everything works perfectly! The 1750 has a 15% max incline and a -3% max decline. These are great to have when you need any kind of hill training. Let me tell you, that 15% incline is NO JOKE. You will feel the burn using the incline feature! Plus, the downhill is a great change and helps give your body some variation.

The NordicTrack Commercial 1750 has Bluetooth capabilities, so you can use your wireless headphones to connect. I’ve had some issues connecting my Aftershokz headphones to the treadmill (It may be that I am too far back from where it connects, so it loses signal), but my Bose headphones connect seamlessly. The basic function of the treadmill shows you a track and workout stats while you are active. There is also a heart rate grip bar to read your heart rate while working out. I never use this function since my Garmin 245 has a decent HR monitor built-in.

The speakers on the treadmill are great, I’ve been using them for all of my runs and have had no issues hearing the music or my trainers. The fan has multiple levels and is positioned to hit me perfectly while working out. That fan has been a lifesaver when running indoors with no air circulation, definitely a great feature! There is plenty of room for water bottles, cell phones, towels, you name it! I love how many areas there are to put your belongings.

Right out of the box this treadmill works great and has everything you need to get a run in!

iFit on the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 Treadmill

The one-year iFit subscription was something I was a little leery about. It’s a fairly expensive service once the free trial runs out. Though I figured I had to try it since it was free for my first year. Well, I sure am glad I did! What an amazing program! Admittedly, I had some connectivity issues with the Wi-Fi when I first started. It connects to all of the programs via Wi-Fi, so having a great connection is key. We bought a Wi-Fi mesh extender (this one!) and now I’ve had NO connection issues! Yay!

iFit Programs

Let me first say I am not paid by iFit or anything. But I really love this service! It is a vast library of different workouts. There are hiking, walking, run-walk, and running workouts. There are studio classes as well, along with beautiful scenic destination series. I haven’t delved into studio classes since I’ve been enjoying the worldwide destination workouts so much! I wish I’d had iFit when the pandemic first started, it really is a fun way to “see” many places around the world. I’ve now hiked in Switzerland, walked around Turkey, and ran in Croatia! It definitely helps make workouts interesting and engaging. Plus, the trainers are all motivating and I enjoy listening to their stories during my workouts.

The way the iFit program works is each trainer-led workout is programmed with speeds and incline/decline. So when you are running up a hill, they kick that incline up! You can also adjust your settings to your own preferences when you need to pick up the pace or slow it down, and easily get back to the pre-set trainer setting by pressing “follow trainer” on your screen. I 100% use this feature all the time, it’s very handy!

What I love about iFit is how accessible it is. If you need the motivation to walk more during the day, iFit has fantastic walking programs that will keep you coming back for more. The hikes can be challenging, especially the incline hikes! A hike I was recently doing had me walking backward on the treadmill. Talk about new experiences! I am thrilled to be using this program and can’t wait to try some of the more intense programs after my baby is here. There is SO much to choose from!

Is the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 Treadmill Any Good?

Historically, I’ve hated running on the treadmill aka the “dreadmill”. But this experience has changed my mind! Yes, running on the treadmill is a complete lifesaver since running outside is too hard on my pregnant belly. BUT iFit has made me legit look forward to my workouts! I also love the convenience of having a treadmill at home so I can log a quick run/walk whenever I have the time. I know I will be getting PLENTY of use out of this purchase for years to come. And we may have to renew that iFit subscription once my one year is up (sorry husband!). So far I feel the iFit brings the treadmill experience to a whole new level, I don’t know if I can go back! Overall I am super pleased with my new “toy” and highly recommend the NordicTrack Commercial 1750.
