This summer I was bombarded with ads for the MiniMeis Shoulder Carrier. I looked at it and considered buying it, but ultimately decided against it. Then a few months later when we were visiting Navarre Beach FL., we saw one out in the wild! My husband was immediately interested in it since our kiddo loves to sit on Dad’s shoulders. Unsupported this isn’t sustainable for a long amount of time. I mentioned to him that I had looked into the MiniMeis before, and we could possibly buy one when we got home, and thus our MiniMeis was born. 😂 Read on as we talk about the MiniMeis Shoulder Carrier Full Non-Biased Review!

Affiliate Note: This is currently NOT a sponsored or affiliated post with Minimeis, but we would love to represent MiniMeis somehow! We get so many people asking about our carrier; we are always recommending it! The link above is an affiliate link on Amazon and I will get a small commission if you purchase.

What Is Minimeis?

The MiniMeis is a shoulder carrier system, really targeted at Dads (though anyone can use it). It can be used for ages 6 months to 4 years old or 40 pounds. The system is designed to distribute the weight equally on the shoulders and upper back for ultimate comfort. There are straps on the legs and waist to make it a safe ride.

Ordering

Ordering online was easy. We also added the sunshade since we were mainly purchasing the carrier for Disney World (check out our trip re-cap HERE) in the summer. We received our order much faster than we expected!

Learning Curve

Once we got the MiniMeis, we wanted to jump right in and give it a try. It takes a little getting used to and possibly if you are like me, watching Youtube videos, to get it right. The first time we used it our baby wasn’t sitting exactly right in the seat and it hurt my husband’s back. My husband had to use it a few times to get acclimated to the feeling of our son up high and be able to use the carrier for longer amounts of time. My husband was in the Army and said it reminded him of carrying a ruck. He loved it from the start and completely abandoned our stroller for walks as he used the carrier!

Folding the carrier up makes it very compact, but again there is a learning curve. We had to watch a Youtube video a few times before we got the hang of it. Once you fold it up it’s very easy to transport!

MiniMeis Usage

We purchased the carrier for our Walt Disney World trip, but ended up getting so much more use out of it! It worked GREAT for Disney, and we got so many comments on it! We especially loved it so our little guy had a fantastic view of the characters in the parks and got some extra special interactions. We also brought a stroller into the parks, but he used the carrier 80% (or more!) of the time. It was HOT when we were in Disney World, so it was great that this carrier is a bit cooler than a stroller since there is more airflow. Note that if you are outside in the heat with your little one, always make sure to bring cooling devices and try to get lots of AC!

It was also fantastic for the airport, and it’s great for just walking around our neighborhood! We get SO much use out of our MiniMeis! It folds up to a size that you can easily stick under a stroller, or wear with the strap across your body!

Is The Minimeis Shoulder Carrier Worth The Cost?

For us, the MiniMeis was 100% worth it. It’s not cheap, we paid the full price for it at $180.00, but we have no regrets! I will say that the sunshade we purchased is pretty much useless. Not only does our little guy easily pull it off the carrier, it also didn’t help much with the sun. Plus, it gets hotter in the carrier with the shade on (less breeze can go through), so overall I’d say that piece was not worth it.

The MiniMeis was a huge game changer for our family when it comes to exploring the outdoors and travel. Our little guy LOVES it and it makes being outside with a toddler so much easier as we don’t have to wrestle him into a stroller. If you have a child who likes sitting on shoulders, this would be a slam dunk purchase! All kiddos are different though, so it really depends on your child. We love it and highly recommend the MiniMeis Shoulder Carrier! Check it out and let me know if it works for you!
