While we LOVE to travel and go to Disney, sometimes it’s just not in the cards. So for our anniversary my husband and I decided to do something a little different. We chose a Disney theme for our staycation and went all-in for Epcot World Showcase Eat Around the World! Epcot is our FAVORITE Walt Disney World park, so it made sense that we would spend our anniversary enjoying all the tasty treats we could find. See how we enjoyed a “trip around the world” without leaving our home! Read all about our Epcot Eat Around the World Staycation!
Plan it Out
We could have gone way more in-depth with this theme (or any theme) than we did. We talked about music and movies that would enhance the weekend; possibly new clothes and Mickey ears…. but we are new parents and that just wasn’t going to happen. However, we did plan out the most important thing, the FOOD! We listed out the pavilions of the world showcase and decided on what food or drink we wanted to enjoy. Then we went about ordering things off Amazon (you’d be surprised what you can find on there!), and picking recipes.
Eats!
Here is what we had for our staycation! Something from each of the World Showcase pavilion countries!
Canada
Steak! We did this because we had a fantastic meal at Le Cellier in the Canada pavilion the last time we were there.
United Kingdom
Tea! English Breakfast to be exact. I love an English style tea service, so we obviously had to do this. It was fun! =)
France
Gelato Brioche sandwich! This is something I would love to try in the France pavilion, it has rave reviews. Ours was surprisingly delicious!
Morocco
Orange cake. There is SO much good food at the Morocco pavilion, but we chose something we could make at home that was “Moroccan”. It was really good!
Japan
Random candies and treats! This was fun! We ordered this mix off Amazon and had fun trying all the different things. Though I’m pretty sure one of the items was seaweed flavored… *ick*
America
Hot dogs! We went for something easy since we had a few other items to cook. Gotta love a good dog!
Italy
Italian wine! I wanted a little drinky drink to celebrate our anniversary, and this was good. Italian wine is great.
Germany
Kind of a lame one… but sauerkraut. I would have loved to have made a caramel treat, but it was a little too involved for us that weekend! Also, when I visited Germany many moons again I think I just ate a LOT of sauerkraut. * shrug *
China
These might not exactly be authentic.. but fortune cookies! Let me tell you, you can get a HUGE box of them off Amazon!
Norway
Cookies! These were delightful! Light and tasty. Went great with the tea.
Mexico
Queso and chips. So good, SO filling. Definitely a treat!
How Did it Go??
I’m not gonna lie, it was a LOT of work trying to get all the food made (and even eaten). But we did it! Plus, it was a really fun challenge and something different for our anniversary weekend. We literally high-fived when we checked the last country off our list, it felt like an accomplishment. We did this over three days, but it would have been even more challenging to do it in two! With a kiddo to entertain, we definitely needed that extra day. I can’t say it was great for our waistlines, but what Disney trip is? If you need to add a little magic to your daily routine, try your own staycation! It is a fun and easy way to make staying home feel like a special treat =)
