Watching a Disney movie is like being wrapped in a comforting hug. They are familiar and give you a warm fuzzy ending. Though these films are easy to watch and love, they also hold some valuable life lessons! Here are 9 lessons that I learned from Disney movies!

The Princess and the Frog
Hard work and dedication can make your dreams come true. Out of all the Princesses, Tiana holds a special place in my heart. She shows that you need to do more than wish upon a star to make things happen, you gotta put in some WORK! She’s my spirit princess, Tiana makes her dreams come true!
The only way to get what you want in this world is through hard work!
-Tiana
Moana
Listen to your heart and follow it no matter what. Moana has a passion and drive to explore. Even though she is faced with opposition from almost everyone in her life, she will never be happy unless she pursues her calling. I love her spunk and independence to do what she feels is right.
See that line where the sky meets the sea, it calls me and no one knows how far it goes.
-Moana
Up
It’s never too late for a new adventure. This movie is a tear-jerker, but if you can get through the first fifteen minutes it turns into a story about adventure and growth. Carl may be set in his ways, but after a little push, he is able to grow and get more out of a life he thought was over. Watching Up reminds me that I can always start something new to keep growing. It’s not too late!
Adventure is out there!
-Ellie
The Lion King
Never forget where you came from. Simba runs away from his past, but he is haunted by it as he grows older. Only by confronting his uncle and his traumatic past can he truly become who he is meant to be. Running away won’t fix your problems, you must learn and grow from them.
Oh yes, the past can hurt. But from the way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it.
-Rafiki
Beauty and the Beast
Beauty comes from within. This “tale as old as time” is about learning to love beyond what is on the surface. Belle falls in love with the Beasts’ heart. To love someone is to love every part of them, including who they are on the inside!
She warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within.
-Narrator
Lilo and Stitch
There is no perfect family, and that is ok. The film starts off with a troubled pair of sisters that are about to be torn apart. Once Stitch joins he realizes the most important part of family, love. We learn along with Stitch that family doesn’t have to be perfect to be good.
This is my family. I found it, all on my own. It’s little, and broken, but still good. Yeah, still good.
-Stitch
Pocahontas
Never settle for less than you deserve. Pocahontas is torn between living a calm and easy life and following her heart looking for adventure. She doesn’t want to settle for a life that is laid out for her, she craves something more. Pocahontas follows her heart and meets the love of her life. We should never settle for anything less than the life we deserve!
Should I choose the smoothest course, Steady as the beating drum? Should I marry Kocoum? Is all my dreaming at an end? Or do you still wait for me, dream giver? Just around the river bend?
-Pocahontas
Peter Pan
Keep your inner child, never grow up! Peter Pan starts with Wendy being told by her father that she has to grow up. Then Wendy is swept away into the world of wonder that is Neverland. The film shows us there is no need to leave all the fun and imagination of childhood behind, in fact, we can all benefit from whimsy in our lives. If there is one lesson every Disney fan understands, this is it! Disney helps keep some magic in our grown-up lives.
But Mother, I don’t want to grow up.
-Wendy
Toy Story
True friends will always stick by your side. Other than making us all feel slightly guilty about abandoning our childhood toys, it also teaches us that friendship is special. The toys all ban together to help Woody and Buzz, while in turn they bond and become buddies. Even when times get tough, a true friend will stick with you!
But the thing that makes Woody special is he’ll never give up on you…ever. He’ll be there for you, no matter what.
-Andy
